Too expensive. $200 to read the error codes from my check engine light being on. You guys used to be reasonable with your prices but I guess those days are over!

I haven't had my car serviced at Independent Repair in many years because they are not always honest and they overcharge customers. A few days ago, my FORD dealer quoted me $30 to have one of the signal light bulbs replaced. I didn't want to drive to Torrance so I called IR and Jim quoted me approximately $20 but he said he'd have to look at the car. I brought my car in to IR and the GM (I think his name is Mike) told me it would cost $45 + Labor!! I was shocked! I told him that was way too pricey and that I'm going to take my car in to my dealer instead because they quoted me $30 and that the reason I came to IR was because they are located just a few minutes away from my house and Jim had quoted me approx. $20 over the phone. When I said that, he realized that I had shopped around so he said "let me see what I can do". He ended up charging me $28 (the bulb costs less than $4 and labor was around $25 for a 5mn job). Did he think I was an idiot and I know nothing about repair costs because I am a woman ? How insulting! Or, does he try to rip off his customers every change he gets? Also, he is not pleasant to work with, he does not have a welcoming demeanor and he always seems to be in a bad mood.
